I then asked how they would answer the same question. Some responses were similar, but most were different&#8230; reminding me how important it is to listen to the hearts of students.<\/p>\n<p>Here are statements thirteen and fourteen-year-olds suggested Jesus might give today:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cRemember, the Bible says: \u2018Love one another.\u2019\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHave patience with your students; everyone learns in different ways.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cTeach your students what is true and holy.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cCare about kids\u2019 mental health.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAct and live in the ways of God.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cGod sent Me to save you.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cTell others to open their hearts for Me.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cGuide students to reach their goals.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cLook deeper into the meaning of students\u2019 words.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cBelieve in the potential of your students.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cRefer to the Word of God when in need.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cHave fun with your students!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cNo homework!! It makes people sad\u2026\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I think God loves (most of) these answers! He treasures the young people He has created and He wants parents, teachers, coaches, and mentors to guide them in His ways.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.\u201d Luke 6:40<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will guide you with knowledge and understanding.\u201d Jeremiah 3:15<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I asked my eighth grade students to read the suggestions educators made regarding what Jesus might say to schools in today\u2019s world.
