Kinsey and Jordan took the kids on a train ride in Colorado a few days before they flew to Atlanta for Christmas. As Kinsey told us this story over FaceTime, she asked two-year-old Owen, \u201cWho did we see on the train?\u201d Owen shouted, \u201cJesus!\u201d Kinsey replied, \u201cActually, it was Santa Clause, but Owen has learned in church the best answer to any question is: \u2018Jesus!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
A long time ago, I told a church friend my new revelation: \u201cJim\u2026 I know the answer to all the division in Christianity. In fact, this may be the solution to every argument. The answer is \u2018Jesus!\u2019\u201d Jim looked at me sympathetically and replied: \u201cDana, that sounds good\u2026 but it will never work.\u201d<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve received such corrections many times over the years, but I read a phrase recently from a believer whose message has encouraged multitudes: \u201cThere is only Christ \u2013 He is everything.\u201d (Colossians 3:11) I thought: \u201cThat\u2019s what I believe\u2026\u201d and I looked up the Scripture. Though I could not find find the exact words above, Paul\u2019s message to believers seems clear:<\/p>\n
\u201cChrist is all, and is in all.\u201d (NIV)
\n\u201cChrist is all that matters, and He lives in all of us.\u201d (NLT)
\n\u201cChrist is everything. He is in all of us.\u201d (NLV)
\n\u201cBut Christ is in all believers, and Christ is all that is important.\u201d (NCV)
\n\u201cChrist is everything and in everything.\u201d (GW)
\n\u201cChrist is all that matters, and He is in all of you.\u201d (ERV)
\n\u201cFrom now on, everyone is defined by Christ; everyone is included in Christ.\u201d (MSG)
\n\u201cWhether a person has Christ is what matters, and He is equally available to all.\u201d (TLB)
\n\u201cFor it is Christ that means everything and He lives in every one of us.\u201d (TPT)
\n\u201cBut the all and in all \u2013 Christ.\u201d (YLT)<\/p>\n
This understanding does not make life easy, but it gives the solid foundation on which to stand. Let this new year begin and end with the truth God desires for every person to embrace: \u201cMy Son is all.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
